The Reading Section of the JLPT

The reading section over the years has been easier than the grammar section, but lack of time and practice are usually the problems for students. Rushing through the the reading section and getting correct answers is pretty impossible. As the reading section questions are worth 4 marks each it is vital you spend sufficient time on each question.

The best one technique you should use is to read the question first before reading the piece of writing. You should read the questions several times until you understand them. When you read the question before reading the piece of writing you then know what you are looking for. Also, eliminating wrong answers is a technique you will find helpful. We cover a variety of reading questions in the videos and explain how best to answer them in our Japanese Proficiency Power learning package.
